2010 Davis Fire Crew Training Schedule:

Sorry, but no walk-ins will be accepted at training. All applicants must go through the hiring process to be considered for training seats and employment. This schedule is only intended for those who complete the application process and are explicitly invited to training.

All wildland firefighter training follows the NWCG curriculum and is conducted by certified US Forest Service instructors. Persons completing training will be awarded certificates of completion transferable to all future wildland firefighting positions. Classroom training takes place at the US Forest Service training center near Sacramento:

We encourage our members to car pool to training. IIf you need or can provide a ride, please make a posting in our online Ride Sharing Forum.

Most classroom training days at WFTC-McClellan are held from 7:45 AM to 5:00 PM, exceptions being the first two days when pack test times will be scheduled. The field exercise day on May 1 and the returnee chainsaw field certification on April 25 will start at 6:00 AM and last until 10:30 PM. You will receive a one-hour unpaid lunch break each training day. There are several restaurants within a few blocks of the WFTC.

Beginners & Returnees have different training modules on several days. Check carefully for your particular training dates. (Note: All = Beginners & Returnees)

Returnees: The S-131 Squad Boss and S-211 Portable Pumps classes will not be taught at WFTC-McClellan this year as part of Davis Fire Crew training.
